Follow these steps to enable network access directly in the registry:

1 Open the registry file editor by selecting "[start] > Run..." to open the dialogue

box of the same name.

2 Type "regedit" and confirm your entry with [OK].

The registry editor will open.

Tip

Back up the registry file before making any changes.

Entries in this file form the backbone of the operating system which is highly

sensitive to unintended entries which may lead to the system failing

completely.

In the registry editor select "File > Export..." to create a backup file. To restore

a saved backup of the registry file refer to the operating system's manual.

3 Select "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft SQL Server/MSSQL.1/

MSSQLServer/SuperSocketNetLib/".

4 Set the value for "NP" and "TCP" to "1".

5 Close the registry editor.

6 Restart the computer.

Some changes and entries will only take effect after the computer has been

rebooted.

Important

Select [start] > Control Panel > Administrative Tools> Services and check

that the start type for the SQL Server and the SQL Browser is set to

"Automatic".

If you want to install TIS-Office in a Client/Server environment, you must open

the relevant Windows firewall port so that data can be exchanged with the

server.
